Ivan Kjuranov and studio photography of NAA

Photography as Contemporary Art Ivan Kiuranov and the Photography Studio at the National Art Academy.
A photography exhibition of works by contemporary young photographers who are graduates of the master of art program at the National Art Academy (NAA) will be presented at the Goethe – Institut in Sofia, Bulgaria as part of the “Situation Sofia” project and within the framework of the month of photography. Six young artists and their professor will present works utilizing different aspects of photography as contemporary art media. The Art Academy graduates are artists / photographers working in various directions; they are continuing their education after finishing bachelor training at the NAA or at different other institutions. Their works are produced under the guidance of a team of professors and lecturers at the NAA and they have been trained in a manner stimulating mainly vision of creative art. They are unorthodox, interesting and worthy of notice. Their works are distinguished by clear and visible individual character. All authors use different approaches to art and their works are completed through various photographic techniques and materials which are concentrated on a concrete vision. The exposition is an example of diversity setting a claim on establishing a tradition through the appearance of works that are in direct correspondence with the visual principles of other fine and applied arts such as painting, graphics, design, poster art, films, multimedia and others.
Unlike previous exhibitions this time the show includes works by one of their teachers, the artist Ivan Kiuranov, who was one of the founders of the famous circle and the gallery “XXL” in Sofia during the 1990’s. Even then he was using the techniques of photography to create contemporary art. He is also the first Bulgarian artist who was invited to submit his own photography project “The Young Warriors” at the gallery of the Goethe - Institut in Sofia in the framework of the German program of photo exhibitions “Tendencies in Cotemporary Photography”.
The participants are:
Angel Kotsev, Gergana Kiurukiuvlieva, Dimitar Dimitrov, Ivan Kiuranov, Ioana Angelova, Ivo Dimitrov and Simona Jeleva
