Elema Monochromatic

Photo Club “Elema” exists since 1962, created by a group of students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Skopje. Today the club is open for all fans of photography. Elema has around thirty members, all of different age and professions, but with one mutual passion – photography. The club is a place where beginners and professional photographers meet once a week, discuss different topics, valuate and comment photographs, help each other or simply mingle. Elema is known all around the world mostly by “Photomedia” the international biennale of photographic art, organized since 1988. The club was one of the very top actors on the Macedonian photo scene since its beginning. Numerous prominent Macedonian photographers were and are still members of PC Elema. Pay us a virtual visit us at www.photoclubelema.com. Following the turbulent period after the break off of Yugoslavia, the values and the attitudes of people have changed. It somehow happened at the same time with the rise of a new revolution (or degradation?) of the photographic medium. At that time numerous photo clubs in Macedonia failed to find a new mode of existence and disappeared. Elema was fortunate to survive and to see its 50th anniversary of its existence. Mostly due to the fact that throughout its existing it succeeded to attract new generations which proved essential to provide enthusiasm and motivation and at the same time to keep the old generations of photographers which used their experience to maintain a constantly high level of appreciation for the world of photography. With the plethora of photographers who produce (and post) millions of photographs a day as well as various platforms and media for their presentation, Elema is struggling actively to find its place under that loose hat. It tries hard to maintain the values it stands for, maintain its identity, or to build a new image, without losing itself… Nevertheless, we are still driven that the beauty can save the world, so we offer some of our works that we have invested parts of who we are, and we value a lot. Give each photo a little time. Mind your breath. Contemplate. See if it can offer you something…Enjoy…
