Searching for traces

09.06 – 7.07.2011
An exhibition by Ivaylo Stoyanov and Dirk Brömmel, Germany
Opening: 08.06.2011 at 18.00
Goethe-Institute Bulgaria

"The Pavilion" of the series "The World at 90 degrees" Inkjet-Print, CrystalBond, 100x100 cm, 2011 Ivaylo Stoyanov

Ivaylo Stoyanov and Dirk Brömmel study photography at the Academy of Fine Arts at Mainz Johannes Gutenberg University. What brings them together is not just the common field of education but also their long-standing friendship. The exhibit reveals the various approaches of the photographers to the application of conceptual photography. For Ivaylo Stoyanov, the central subject-matter of his works is nature which he transforms into surrealistic landscapes of expressive colors and stark contrast.

"Ship Nr. 44" C-Print, Diasec, 58x150 cm, 2010 Dirk Brömmel

Since 2000, Dirk Brömmel has been working on the Upside Down sequel – images of ships which disengage the object via bird's-eye look and detailed reproduction. Curator of the Exhibition is Mrs. Nadezhda Dzhakova of the National Art Gallery.

An Exhibition of Goethe-Institut Bulgaria program.
