To Raise an Angel

The exhibition is part of the "Thank You" Campaign of the "Children with Development problems" Foundation, established by the parents of children suffering from cerebral palsy, autism, epilepsy, Dawn syndrome, etc., and fully supported by donations and friends' volunteer work. The Foundation has established and supports a medical center for such children in Sofia, Studentski Grad Block 11 – the low wing. The Center follows the model of one of the most modern and successful European Union Centres – "Kindercentrum", Munich.

The Foundation's "Thank you" campaign raises funds for the annual support of the Centre.

Nadezhda Pavlova was born in 1969. She graduated from the Technical University (1992), the University of National and World Economy (1998) and Art College-Sofia, with majors "Basic Photography" and "Fine Art Photography" in the class of Mr. Boris Yuskeoliev (2002). Presently she is a student of the New Bulgarian University "Art of Photography" Master's Program. Since 2010 she has been a member of the Managing Board of the "Yanka Kyurkchieva" National Association Photo Academy.

Nadezhda Pavlova is author of the individual "A Dutch Portrait", "Arapya from sunrise to sunrise", "Images of Wind", "Gondolas", "Home for Me", "A helping of Chinese Food", "Fooleries on the Washing Line"and "Escape to Elfica" exhibitions presented in Bulgaria and abroad.

Her projects have found place at Bulgarian and international competitions winning prestigious awards.

Her "Home for Me" project won an award of appraisal in "Giovanni Crespi" Competition, Italy, and was included in the International Photographers Meetings – Plovdiv-2009 Program. "I Believe and I Live" is a triptych to win the silver medal at Photoacademica (2004), 3rd Prize at "To Tell a Story in Three Images" Competition, France (2005), and a gold medal at "Valevo" Photo Salon, Serbia (2007). In 2007 Nadezhda won the 3rd Prize at "Sport and Photography" Competition launched by the International Olympic Committee, Lozana, and was invited to take part in the International Olympic Academy session in Olympus, Greece. In March 2008, > she was the official photographer of the IV "Women in Sport" World Conference of the International Olympic Committee in Jordan.

In 2007, Ms Pavlova made a photo session of the family of her friend Boryana Draganova. The images tell the story of the strength of a woman who has made the hard choice to be a good mother to both her children, one of which needs special care. The "Raising an Angel" series won a gold medal in the "Reporter" section of Photoacademica 2007 and 1st Prize at "Canon – Photo of the Year" Competition, "Photo essay" section (2008).
