The album „PETAR PAPAKOCHEV: “The Memory of the Light“ is a gallery of images of personalities who had posed before the lens of the fine-art photographer Petar Papakochev during the decades from the end of the Second World War to the first years of the 21st century. The edition includes 300 artistic studio black and white photographic portraits of the most prominent representatives of the Bulgarian cultural, scientific and social elite from that period, as well as celebrities of the European and world culture who visited Sofia during those years. Most of the photographic images in the album have already acquired iconic significance for the image culture of the country and are part of the nation’s visual memory. In 2012, culturologist Assoc. Prof. Georgi Lozanov pointed out in the press: “French philosopher and writer Roland Bart speaks of the famous Parisian Harcourt photographic studio as the place which one ought to have visited in order to appreciate French culture”. Sofia also had its Harcourt and that was Petar Papakochev. „ The premiere of the book-album, produced by Publishing House „Signs“, will be featured by Prof. Mihail Nedelchev.
