The woman has always been an object of inspiration. Among the numerous roles she performs throughout her life that of a muse is certainly on the top spots. For our project entitled “Women”, we looked for 40 women to whom we assigned a very specific task: they should not only inspire us, but also try to inspire themselves. We asked them to find their inner muse who we can afterward show to the world. Each one of them revealed her most intimate feelings, how she looks at herself and what makes her a distinct individual. The project is an anthropology of the female soul, of its variety/diversity. Each photograph represents a short episode, which is not destined for the theatrical scene and does not occupy an hour and a half of your time, but presents a little part of a whole lifetime.
The choice of the topic was not randomly made. Even for us as artists, who are educated in finding and expressing beauty through the means of photography, the woman turned out to be a challenging subject. Therefore, we did not want to take pictures of women as we wished, but to include them in the working process as well. We tried to remove the barrier between the photographer and the model and to get acquainted with each other as much as possible. Our photos represent the closest distance we managed to reach as photographers in the universe of each of the 40 women.
The technical part of the project is absolutely synchronized with the idea. The photos are black and white in order to convey the whole idea of imagination and mysticism. The editing is minimized, because we want to show what is real in the contemporary digital era. The size of the shots is 75/50 for a stronger influence, with the shots not being cropped, but preserved in their originality.
