She divides her time between photographic assignments, personal projects, photography lessons for children and different kinds of audiences, and guided tours and workshops about contemporary art (such as in WIELS, Brussels). Her work has already been awarded by various prizes (Mediatine, Hamesse, Young Artists Prize from Belgian Parliament, …), exhibitions and publication (French magazine Réponses Photo, etc.). Valentina Pacheco Fernandes: Since a couple of years I’m researching ways to create new spaces and moments using pictures cut in layers and overlapping images. During this research I create a technique that consist in distribute between glass plates slices of a cut picture, creating than a 3D photo-object. Through this process the places and moments portrayed are occupying the three dimensional space again but now in a different scale, that allows these moments and places to be “revisited” ever and ever. The photography brings something from the 3D to the 2D world and the central objective of this research is bring the photos back to the 3D. In the workshop I will talk more about this concept and technique, showing pictures from different pieces of this series, explaining my work process, introducing other work series that also goes toward this subject and in the same time exposing parallels and relations between my own work as artist and the production of other artists.
