The Hungarian Cultural Institute was founded in 1948 and over 60 years now it has been presenting Hugarian Culture in Bulgaria. Since 1998, the Institute is situated at 16 Aksakov street, in the very heart of Sofia.
The Institute offers a rich programme not only for the Sofian public but also nationwide: language courses for beginner and advanced learners, supports the publishing of fiction and scientific literature. It avails of exhibition and conference hall, a library, phono-library and video library. All interested in Hungarian culture can visit the literary readings, exhibitions, concerts, film shows etc.
In the recent years, the Hungarian Cultural Institute has become an attractive venue for many Bulgarian artists and scientists who hold here scientific symposia, conferences, presentations, exhibitions and concerts.
