39th FIAP youth digital BIENNIAL 2018
The FIAP Youth Digital Biennial was held for the 39th time. This is the most prestigious international photo contest for youth photography. The fact that in 2018 the Bulgarian Academy of Photography „Yanka Kyurkchieva“ was nominated to host the event is evidence of special recognition of the efforts of our organization.
The Biennial featured the participation of 452 authors from 18 countries. These contests engage participants under 16 and young people from 16 to 21. In both segments the Oman collections were most highly evaluated. We are proud that among the youngsters, our collection shares the 6th and 7th place with our neighbours from Macedonia and is awarded a Diploma, while the image, contributed by Christopher Yordanov, won individual bronze medal. In the under 21 category, our collection was awarded the silver medal.
In the Bulgarian under 21 collection, 14 of the 20 photos are taken by students under 18 at the National High School of Polygraphy and Photography in Sofia. The exhibition of the Biennial is displayed in the corridors of the National Palace of Culture and is part of the cultural programme of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of Europe 2018.
