Lest We Forget
‘Lest we forget’ is a long-term project about a controversial era in the modern Bulgarian and Eastern European history – Communism. The period is seen through the eyes of two men who lived their prime years under a Communist regime. Their stories are told using a multimedia installation comprising of photographs, videos, text and vintage documents. The aim of this project is to present accessible information about life under communism, and is mainly geared towards young people, who have not experienced this regime themselves. The presented work has been gathered through a number of interviews, several visits to the National Archive and numerous photo sessions, including one in the former concentration camp Belene on Persin Island.
Ivelin Metodiev is 23 years old and is from Burgas. In 2011 he graduated with a BA in Photography from the University of Portsmouth, UK. “Lest we forget” is his graduate project, shown previously in London and Portsmouth.
