Borislav Chonkov was born in Varna, Bulgaria. He was impressed by the photography as a student at Politechnik University in Prague, then from 1985 in Poland involved professionally. Having over 40 author’s photographic exhibitions in Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany and Ecuador, he takes part in FIAP exhibitions in Taipey, Belgrad, Maccau, Denmark, Brazil, Zagreb, Korea and Spain. He is a member of Association of Authors Polish Republic’s Photoclub, Warsaw’s Club of Photoreporters and Photoclub “Varna”. For a contribution to the photography he has been awarded “Honoured for the polish culture” by the Minister of Culture of Poland. He has many publications in illustrated magazines – Bulgarian and foreign ones, such as Hustler, Shoine Wohe, Guardian, Olivia, Ecuadorian “La Otra” und others.
Besides he is photographing and publishing pictures of Bulgarian and polish cities and also Berlin and Ecuadorian Kito and Quenca. From 2007 to 2011 he is permanently taking part in the photographic workshop “Old Torun” in Poland. His exhibition “Gdansk from 1001 nights” has been presented in Gdansk, Warsaw, Sofia, Varna and Shumen. Borys Czonkow has many awards from international photographic exhibitions and competitions and he is contributing to Bulgarian press-agency BULPHOTO in Sofia and polish EAST-NEWS in Warsaw.
