Controversial Dadaism Individual Exhibitions of NBU Students

Alexander Toshev → The Invisible Wall

What happens to us in life is defined by our thoughts; we are indeed directors of our lives. But our potential is limited by „the invisible walls“. These barriers are part of our own fears, which we fight every day – the eternal battle of our inner craving to justify other’s expectations. Sometimes that makes us pretend we are someone else; play a role, live in the world of commonly accepted values and stereotypes. But life has its own countless ways of reminding us that limitations are just a creation of our illusion, which we are going to face sooner or later.

MoniKa Petkova → S = k log W
The natural history of the processes in the universe is of order to disorder. Scientists often argue about the existence of a sudden turn in the universe, contrary to the laws of thermodynamics, the theory supporting the continued degradation environment to greater confusion, greater entropy.
Harmony, proved the existence of some natural creatures, such as cells, galaxies, ecosystems can be explained by the fact that entropy can be reduced by external influences. This increase of order is possible only in an increase in entropy in the region, creating disorder. In living systems, however, the estimated entropy is increasing dramatically in the case of thermodynamic isolation.
My pictures show what is happening around us – the occurring global entropy, caused by the excessive desire for us to achieve an internal order.

Todor Vasilev → Comfort zone
Comfort zone is a state of unfounded sense of security. An area, full of internal barriers that restrict our ability to face the unknown. In the microworld, established by ourselves, everything is familiar. The natural fear of the unknown prevents us from trying new experiences, meet new people and go to new places. Many psychologists define comfort zone as a prison.
The project is a series of portraits, reproducing my reality of encapsulated environment, in which many of us live.

Veneta Karamfilova → A concert for meat grinder and microwave oven
Dadaists don’t put in a certain meaning in their work. They let the audience make their own interpretation. Dada critics logics in creative work, ignores aesthetics, that’s an (anti)art of abstraction, an irrational thought or the lack of one; a mockery with traditional values in arts.
One thing affects different people in different ways. What’s art for one may mean nothing to someone else. That’s my interpretation of Dadaism, art, of thinking, of everything that’s happening in/out side of me. And my hope is that every viewer would find something entirely for himself, even if it has nothing to do with what I meant. Art, above all things must stimulate pure emotions, provoke and reflect the world. And this is my world- a concert for meat grinder and microwave oven.

Vera Petkova → The seven deadly sins
Dadaism is an anti-art, born in the beginning of the 20th century. It’s an art in its own way- a protest against culture and society, against civilization and its harmful influence. It’s a denial of conventional arts. Dadaism occurs surprisingly and shocks, and not for long it’s gone, so it could be reborn in other styles, create another type of art, share other emotions. Dadaism arises in a period of unexpected and fast changes. It creates new ideas and goals.
The theme of my work is the seven deadly sins, recreated in the spirit of Dadaism. A theme that is well known and at the same time, not known well enough, presented in a different point of view – my own.
