The Model: Authorship

The body is never alone, the body is doubled presence. Noticed, noted and targeted. Marked, as a whole. Your look at your own body – sometimes in admiration, and more often in disgust; someone else’s look at your body – sometimes condescending, and more often conspiratorial. Conspiratorial because someone else knows what it means to have a body, he knows what it may cause – pain, wound, howling, defeat. Exactly against the defeat, which may be the body, and which in most cases is the body – the characters of these pictures fight, struggle and stand against. The body is a cross, like the cross on the left biceps of one of the models, and this cross should be worn with understanding, with the full sense of it, with inevitably, just like the tattooed Christ wears it. Being a body, having a body means that you can be crucified, that at any moment you can become the Crucified. So you flex your muscles – the Crucified is flaccid, soft, unfocused; you must be tight, hard, focused. And in the eyes of other one, as well as in your own eyes – when the body spells firmness, ground, land, your very existence spells firmness, ground, land. A basis – the strong muscle is an existential groundwork. The body as a victory over the body…
