My Land is the Ocean
a small universe, with 8000 km long Ocean frontage, the life never parts from the water. „My Land is the Ocean“ project starts with a trip to the north-western coast of Brasil. The fishermen there still use wooden rafts with sails called „jangadi“ to make their living, and their hard way of life still remains untouched by modern times.
Rumen Koynov’s photographs reveal in a magical way the poetry, the reality and the mysteriousness of this wold, inextricably bound up with the Ocean, a world, that remains unchanged since the dawn of photography. „Shooting pictures for Rumen goes far beyond the mechanical action of the simple apprehension of reality. It is a way of revealing the world, the mystery and the sacred, since nature is a refuge for man in a world stripped of humanity and of the sacred. His work is indicative of a restless soul, unwilling to become resigned to the straying paths of our world, while itself so full of generosity, life and devotion to the values that have been lost and which have are expressed in the strength that emanates from the water, the plants and the beings that populate the natural world-faithfully reproduced in the image-poems of Rumen Koynov.“
