The Best of
Lauren Randolph was born and raised in Reno Nevada, where she received a Bachelors degree in Art before relocating to Los Angeles to continue working fulltime as a commercial and fine art photographer. She has been trained to find the beauty in the familiar: in light, color, prop, line, costume, or character. Whether it is a staged shoot or a candid moment, she not only brings out the personality and life of her subject, but instills her own as well. Those who follow Lauren’s work have gotten lost in the fantasy and vibrancy of her art, each piece being a reflection of her creative vision – through this she has adopted the colorful nickname “Lauren Lemon.” In 2011 Randolph was named one of Photoboite’s 30 Under 30 Women Photographers, and was on Mashable’s list of the Top 15 Instagram Photographers. Her art has been published and exhibited internationally. She has worked for clients such as Sony, Olympus, National Geographic, Universal, and IMAX.
Artist Statement: I am an extremely visual artist, making meaning how I see the world. Through narrative storytelling I aim to capture that perfect decisive moment. Each photograph can give the viewer a sense of anticipation of what’s about to come, or access to a moment that will never happen again. I’ve been playing make believe and dress up my whole life. Now, as a photographer, I’ve found a reason to continue putting on those fantasy performances. Inspiration comes from real life events and the people I surround myself with, but I like to look at every normal situation and then add a quirky twist. Casting the right character, finding the perfect location, then using styling and emotion to let the story unfold. The creation process is important, but I love knowing someone can look at a picture I took and walk away with a smile. Even if they don’t remember the image itself, maybe they’ll remember the way it made them feel.
