Flash Back – sudden expression of awareness for past experiences, events, people, fates!
In this project I present glimpses of past time, flashes in the present time of high technologies, Internet and a shrinking world.
Places beyond here and now, where life flows in a parallel space, right at hand.
A melancholic trip out of the world of globalization!
„At a first glance, the young artist’s photos depict remnants from the past and places long lost. Looking at them from a different angle though, while passing by them, they glimmer with a new life as if from a parallel world, as if they themselves become alive, having caught the light from the essence of life itself.
Nencho Balkanski allows the viewer to interpret the stories, which have happened at the depicted places. He just reminds us, that time is a convention. The artist has a special attitude towards the moment, as if trying to hold it for a little longer. I’ve never seen him in a hurry, acting hastily even when others are rushing in a rat race. He does not let any tension trouble his delicate individuality and unobtrusive expressiveness.
His photos are multilayered dimensions of time. The longer we look at them, the more new meanings we discover in them. They transfer us to the worlds of fairy tales or simple human lifestyles, according to our fundamental values or moods. In his work, Nencho Balkanski has laid firm and deep roots of culture, knowledge and sense of time.“
