MONTH OF PHOTOGRAPHY 2016
On May 17th, 2016 the exhibition THE DREAM by Fabio Bucciarelli will mark the start of the seventh edition of the Month of Photography.
The theme of the edition is CONTACT.
Primordial contact of light with silver halide, the photosensitive coating on photographic film; contact between the look of the photographer on the captured object; contact between generations of photographers; contact between the photographer and the spectators; contact between the photographer and his innermost experience.
Physical and mental, spiritual and emotional – CONTACT – with and through the photographic image. The 2016 edition presents twenty exhibitions of Bulgarian and international authors.
One of the most memorable events will feature the exhibition of the prominent photographer Garo Keshishian. The display will be opened on June 6th at photography gallery SYNTHESIS in the presence of the author and will show 58 gelatin silver prints he made by himself. The prints are property of the Poggianella Foundation, Italy and are generously contributed by its chairperson, Mr. Sergio Poggianella who will also join the event.
Traditional partners of the festival are the Polish and the Hungarian Institutes. The gallery of the Hungarian Institute will display the exhibition “Young Kertesz & Young Hungarians” curated by Szilvia Mucsy, Chair of the RANDOM Modern Photography Association. The Polish Institute will feature three projects of Agnieszka Rayss, three different angles of view on the position of the woman fighting for freedom in the past and present. For the first time, the Czech Institute will be partner of the Month of Photography inviting Alena Kotzmannová with her Quiet Game exhibition. With the support of the Italian Institute we will meet Fabio Bucciarelli, winner of the World Press Photo, The Robert Capa Gold Medal, Leica Oskar Barnack Award, FotoEvidence Book Awards, NPPA / Best of Photojournalism awards.
