(Be)r(Li)n Compound
А formerly divided by two seemingly irreconcilable polarities Berlin has now become a modern compound of east and west. At the place where two opposites once met, now an imposing contemporary compound rises – futuristic in appearance, but yet with restrained moderation in architecture. Similar to this the elements of Beryllium (Be) and Lithium (Li) in Chemistry do not bind to one another. However scientists are predicting that in conditions of ultra high pressure (5 to 10 times greater than the pressure at which diamond forms) they will bond and form stable Lithium-Beryllium alloy that may also be capable of superconductivity. Superconductivity is the flow of electricity with zero resistance… Тhe word “compound” has many different meanings and they all come together for a new interpretation in modern-day Berlin.
